Housing and Shelter

Housing and shelter are fundamental to quality of life for all ages. Older adults are vulnerable in securing age friendly, safe, and affordable housing. The majority of older adults want to continue to age in place, in their homes and communities. Many older adults experience housing cost burden which impacts their ability to age in place.

UCOA Policy Position:

All Utahns will have access to safe, affordable, and livable housing as they age. UCOA supports public policy and legislation that promotes affordable housing for older adults and aging-in-place initiatives. UCOA encourages local governments to adopt age-friendly community objectives, including the Eight Domains of Livability as defined by AARP.
