Big Inspiration in a Small Package
I’ve been looking for inspiration of late. It’s been a hard year for everyone, and my situation at home is more challenging than ever. My only daughter is facing major surgery to repair a damaged digestive system. Without it, she won’t survive.
I don’t want my only granddaughter to grow up without her mother. It’s a tough world out there for teens and the mother daughter bond is a strong one. Right now Hope and Optimism is our daily mantra. Feeding those emotions is a full-time job.
To that end, I recently tapped into a powerful source for inspiration that we should all take in. It’s in the form of a book written by Jeffrey Olsen. Jeff was a principal and Creative Director of Blaine Olsen White Gurr, a well-known creative agency when I was in the business. He is known to be a true creative power and a nice guy to boot. I never met him personally but know of his reputation.
He's now an author, inspirational speaker and Creative Director at BYU Broadcasting.
His book is: Knowing. Memoirs of a journey beyond the veil and choosing joy after tragic loss.
It’s the powerful story of the tragic one car rollover that killed his wife and 14-year-old son, and nearly killed him. It reveals his astounding near death experience, his long and painful recovery, and his realization that life is a gift, no matter what the outcome.
My words are not adequate to describe the contents of this wonderful story. My best words are: buy it and read it. It will give you inspiration that will make a difference.
After reading it, while I face an uncertain future with my only daughter, I have renewed strength and faith that all will be well no matter the outcome.
As President Biden recently said, “There’s no accounting for the trials we will face on this earth.”
He’s faced much personal trauma in his life and continued with hope and optimism.
I plan to do the same.
